The Asheville metropolitan region is
served by two public Asheville
School districts and numerous
distinguished Asheville private
schools. The greater rural Buncombe
County NC region is served by the
Buncombe County NC School District,
and the public schools located
inside the city limits are governed
by the Asheville City Schools
district.
The greater Buncombe County NC Schools system serves the outlying regions of the county including towns like Black Mountain, Weaverville, Arden, Candler, Fletcher, and Barnardsville. Known for their dedicated teachers, top scores on national achievement tests and welcoming atmosphere, the Buncombe County Schools NC
are highly recommended and rated.
The smaller district of Asheville
City Schools is comprised of five
elementary schools, one middle
school, and one high school. Working
with the greater city of Asheville
through a host of community
sponsors, the Asheville City Schools
are heavily supported by the city’s
businesses and commerce.
In addition to the Asheville Public Schools, the city is home to private and boarding schools. Some of these private schools
have various religious affiliations and others
do not. Asheville Private Schools
like Hanger Hall School, Carolina
Day School, and Asheville Catholic
School have a long history of
providing well-rounded education
through their specially tailored
curricula.
