Dear Friends,
We’ve finally found it—our place in the
mountains! Of course, we wanted that perfect
combination of a secure mountain hideaway with the
convenience of fine restaurants, theater,
hospital and airport—all within 15 minutes
drive, and we found it at Cummings Cove in
Hendersonville, North Carolina.
It was not easy deciding to leave the home where
we raised our three children, but since they’ve
scattered to Chicago, Orlando and Philadelphia,
we decided to find our own special place. What
surprised us about this location is that it is
only a day’s drive to each of the children, or
we can fly out of Asheville Airport. You know
how we love to travel, so finding a secure gated
community was a priority. Next week we’re going
to Charleston for a long weekend of antiquing
and beach-walking. We can leave after breakfast
and be there in time for lunch. Another pleasant
surprise is how easy it has been to make friends
with other people who have settled here from all
over the country—each of us looking for that
indefinable something that says: You’re home
now.
I can understand why people around the world
have revered the mountains as spiritual places.
The altitude does affect your attitude! We
haven’t felt so relaxed in years. A typical day
at Cummings Cove offers a round of golf with the
Blue Ridge Mountains as your gallery. It’s a
challenging but walkable course—perfect for us.
Lunch at the Clubhouse Restaurant, a power nap,
and we’re ready for dinner and a movie, play or
concert in Hendersonville, Brevard or Asheville.
We feel so lucky to be here. The only thing that
could make it better would be if you moved here
too.
Your Friends at Cummings Cove
