Fitness Center
The Fitness Center occupies a
vantage point with Blue Ridge
Mountain views visible through the
tall windows that wrap around the
building. Getting a good workout
with a good view is a winning
combination. There is something for
everyone in this Fitness Center from
“gym rat” to the more meditative
yoga practitioner. The building is
divided into two main sections with
training equipment in one section
and exercise classroom in the other.
Men’s and women’s locker rooms with
showers, a massage therapy room and
the office of the Sports Director,
Tim Dixon, complete the space.
Specialized
equipment includes: Cybex weight
training equipment, Precor cardio
training equipment and free weight
area.
The following classes are offered:
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Nia - combining elements of
dance, yoga and tai chi -
non-impact exercises done to
music and are easy to follow
- Water Aerobics
- Fusion Exercise
- Tennis
- Golf Fitness
Adjacent to the Fitness Center is
the 48,000 gallon heated swimming
pool and 2,000 gallon in-ground hot
tub. The heated pool provides an
extended swimming season. There is ample room for sunning
by the pool or retreating to the
shade of the pool pavilion with
tables and chairs. Outdoor restrooms
and showers are also provided. Three
tennis courts are a short stroll
from the Fitness Center.
