Larry discovered the
mountains of North Carolina
while vacationing here with
his parents when he was a
child. Caryl came here from
the Midwest to attend Duke
University where she later
met Larry. Although they
spent most of their working
years in Dallas, Texas, they
knew they wanted to retire
to the North Carolina
mountains and Hendersonville
area. They found Cummings
Cove in 1999, bought a
homesite and began
construction in 2008. They
moved into their new custom
home in the summer of 2009.

Originally from West
Virginia, Blair and Marilyn
had business careers in
Northern Ohio. Upon retiring
in the late 1990’s, they
built a summer home in West
Virginia near The Greenbrier
resort and a winter home in
Naples, Florida. In 2006,
after growing tired of
maintaining two homes, they
began looking for a golfing
community near Asheville and
purchased a homesite on the
golf course in Cummings
Cove. In 2007, they became
permanent residents in their
new custom home.

Jim and Betty met in
Michigan, Jim's home state.
Betty grew up in Texas. With
advanced degrees in
education, their careers
took them on assignments
around the world, returning
to the U.S.A. for
summer vacations. Wanting to
establish a permanent home,
they researched WNC and
bought a resale home in
Cummings Cove in 1996. In
2001, they bought a homesite
where they built their dream
home in 2006. Jim and Betty
are still active in
education, and Jim serves as
President of the Homeowners Association.
